Prevention advocacy
PCOC as a crime prevention advocacy organization
The PCOC is a Correction advocacy organization. The agency of correction is responsible for the accommodation, management and well-being of inmates, defendants-in-custody, people receiving rehabilitation treatment, people under observation, people receiving compulsory work assignments, underage (18years) potential juvenile delinquents and juvenile delinquents. We advocate for the provision of multi-faceted correctional treatment, safe and humanized shelters, and complete Medical services to help detainees make a difference with their lives through the process of imprisonment, settlement and transformation and a smooth integration to society.
Preventing Torture, Protecting Detainees
We are concerned with the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Tortureand Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment (CAT) and the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (OPCAT) adopted in 2002 and entered into force in 2006. OPCAT is a human rights treaty that assists in the implementation of and builds on the United Nations Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment (CAT) and helps States meet their obligations under CAT.
